Telephone Befriending
A friendly chat is only a phone call away
What is the service?

Evergreens Telephone Befriending Service was launched during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 to help alleviate the loneliness and Isolation older people would be experiencing during lockdown. It has been so popular we decided to continue providing the service to our community.

The Telephone Befriending Service if provided by volunteers who will give you a call once or twice a week for a nice friendly chat and to give you something to look forward to. It is hoped that a good lasting relationship can be formed between you both.

Why do we offer it?
Initially, the Telephone Befriending Service was launched to provide to our community during the pandemic of 2020. Evergreen was very aware of the effect loneliness and isolation would have on older people. The service had three important roles. Firstly, to help with loneliness and isolation. Secondly to ensure the clients support network didn't fail when their family members needed to self-isolate, and thirdly to be aware of any health issues that may arise with our clients. We have continued to provide this service because these issues are still prevalent in our older community, and we are also aware that not everyone wants to receive a face to face visit.

Evergreen was founded as our response to the growing challenges we see within the care sector. Launched in 2014, we have supported well over 2000 older people in the Bexley and surrounding Boroughs with a range of services. But what makes our Charity stand out from the rest is the wonderful relationships our staff build with their clients and their family members.
Our mission is simple: Through Christian love, we seek to support people to achieve the highest quality of life and self-worth. Leading with innovation, treating with compassion and valuing each person, we enrich lives, improve the health and wellbeing of communities, and respect and care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people, bringing peace of mind to those we serve. Our mission calls us to care for the sick and disadvantaged as expressed in Matthew 25:35-40
